Why We're Here
To allow a Canadian venue for the gathering of motorcycle riding Masons to enjoy good comradeship and, where feasible, to add some meaning to our miles by helping to raise funds for charity. This will usually be done by piggy-backing onto an existing charity run.

In the Spring of 2002, several Canadian Masons who were motorcycle riders met over the Internet and soon discovered they would like to create something that would allow Canadian Masons to get together for motorcycle rides from time to time and to share in the common camaraderie and ideals of Masonry. After a number of emails, it was decided that a meeting should be arranged in order to discuss this idea further. With Bill Knowles as lead hand, eight of us were able to meet on May 18th, 2002, at the Picton Room of the Quality Inn at Belleville, Ontario, and spent some 3 hours ironing out the details of how this idea for a Canadian association of riding Masons could be best accomplished. Of the 20 or so original supporters of the idea, the initial eight of us formed a founding committee, for lack of a better term. The general consensus was that something informal and low-maintenance was preferable, and thus was formed
The Canadian Masonic Riders

At this and the next meeting, we decided on the logo you see on this site. In order to ensure that we kept things as simple and informal as possible, we decided that any reference to a "club", per se, should be avoided. So, we consider ourselves as merely a group.
Bro. Bill Knowles agreed to continue to act as our Lead Hand and Bro. Len Cotton as Communications & Webmaster Guy, at least for our formative year of 2002. Bro. Barry Hayward stepped up and agreed to be our Note-taker and Coin-keeper during our formative phase. We have now completed that formative phase and come to the point where we can relax and let the CMR gather its own momentum across Canada as we expand our email list.

Our real history is yet to be created!
